Why segregate waste? What should you do with an old wardrobe, broken washing machine or Styrofoam? How will the installation for recovering energy from waste operate? The answers to these and many other questions regarding waste management were provided at a special training session in the commune of Czerwonak.
The seminars, which took place on 11 February this year in Czerwonak, were attended by teachers of commune schools and village leaders. The participants' task in the workshop part of the training was to segregate sample waste into correct containers. Uncertainties included beverage cartons, which should go in the yellow container or bag. Difficulties were also caused by broken plastic toys that need to be disposed of in the mixed waste container. The educators and experts discussed with the participants the Municipal Waste Thermal Treatment Plant, paying particular attention to the technology used, thanks to which the plant will be environmentally safe and friendly.
The seminars held in Poznań and nine surrounding communes are part of the campaign 'Recover and Use'. A total of 60 such meetings with the residents have been planned.
