A plastic bag is produced within five seconds, used for five minutes on average, and is decomposed for over 500 years. This Saturday, 26 September, the organisers of the action "Plastic bag? Thank you! I dom’t need one!" will encourage residents of Poznań to change their habits and use environmentally friendly reusable bags when doing shopping.
The City of Poznań invites to participate in the event. The centre of the action will be located in front of the Malta Gallery. Everyone who between the hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. will bring at least 10 plastic bags, will receive a cotton shopping bag in return. Under the supervision of artists, you will be able to give it individual character. Plastic bags collected in yellow containers will be sent for recycling. Knowledge of the residents on ecology will be tested in special contests. - Remember that resigning from a popular plastic bag, we limit the amount of garbage produced. Nearly 10 percent of 100 billion of plastic bags produced by Europeans pollutes sea, rivers, fields and forests. Therefore, I encourage you to take part in the action, exchange plastic bags into ecological ones and above all to change our consumer habits to more environmentally friendly ones - says Bożena Przewoźna from the Department of Municipal Management of Poznań City Hall.
The action is a part of the campaign "Recover and Use" that accompanied the construction project of Energy from Waste Plant in Poznań.
